The ‘Exhibition on the Achievements in the Promotion of the Constitution and the Basic Law of Macao and Enhancement of Affection for Home Country and National Identity in Residential Colleges of University of Macau’ was inaugurated at the University of Macau (UM) Wu Yee Sun Library. The exhibition, which is presented for the first time in both Chinese and English, showcases the educational outcomes of UM’s residential colleges in promoting the two laws and fostering patriotism among students over the past year.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Mok Kai Meng, vice rector of UM, and Tong Io Cheng, dean of the Faculty of Law. Speaking at the event, Mok said that the exhibition documents the successful results of the UM Constitution and Basic Law Student Ambassador Training Programme, as well as the efforts of the residential colleges in promoting the two laws among students. He highlighted that such accomplishments are the result of the collective efforts of the entire university, and a demonstration of leveraging the strengths of residential colleges and local associations. He added that UM will continue to enhance national identity, national pride, and awareness of national security among Macao’s youth.
Since its inception in 2022, the UM Constitution and Basic Law Student Ambassador Training Programme has trained 99 student ambassadors. A total of 111 students from the 10 residential colleges have joined the Student Workgroup for the Enhancement of Affection for Home Country. More than 180 activities have been held to promote the two laws and patriotism, involving the participation of over 4,600 students.
