To enhance students’ global perspective and knowledge, Lui Che Woo College (LCWC) of the University of Macau (UM) organised a study tour to Singapore for its students and resident fellows. The study tour provided them with the opportunity to engage in cultural and knowledge exploration and experiential learning, broadening their knowledge in areas such as engineering, business, and social sciences.

Led by Desmond Lam, college master of LCWC, 19 students visited the National University of Singapore (NUS). They visited the Engineering Design and Innovation Centre and discussed with their professor topical issues related to the integration of academic knowledge with industrial practice in the real world. The group also visited the Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk and explored a range of academic topics, including growth mindset, healthy ageing, and their association with diabetes. During their visit to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, LCWC members met with representatives of the faculty and learned about the various academic programmes offered by the faculty as well as career opportunities in Singapore.

During their time in Singapore, LCWC students and resident fellows stayed at the College of Alice & Peter Tan and were also given a tour of the college facilities by Gary Tan, master of the college. Students from both colleges had in-depth exchanges, laying the foundation for future cooperation.

In addition, LCWC members visited Nanyang Technological University, where they experienced campus life and learned more about the history of the university and the unique architecture of its campus. The group also visited two integrated resorts in Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands, to gain a better understanding of the operation of international integrated resorts.
