A delegation from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) visited the University of Macau today (27 October) and was warmly received by UM Rector Yonghua Song and Vice Rector Ge Wei. They visited the University Gallery and learned about UM’s history, developments, research layout, campus facilities, and development direction. They also visited the UM Wu Yee Sun Library and the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City.

In addition, the delegation held a seminar on NSFC’s support for the cultivation of young talent in science and technology in Macao. More than 70 representatives from local higher education institutions, including UM, the Macau University of Science and Technology, and the City University of Macau, attended the seminar. The attendees had in-depth discussions on the implementation and effectiveness of the Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macao) and the Young Scientists Fund, as well as relevant improvement measures. Gao Ruiping, vice president of NSFC, highly praised Macao young scholars for their research achievements in recent years.
