The University of Macau (UM) will hold the UM Teaching Excellence Award Seminar on 1 November (Wednesday). Fiona Yang Xi, assistant professor in the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management of the Faculty of Business Administration, is the recipient of the UM Teaching Excellence Award for the 2022/2023 academic year. She will give a talk titled ‘From Product Management to Experience Management: The Evolution of My Teaching Philosophy’. All are welcome to join.
The talk will feature Prof Yang’s unique insights into the evolution of her teaching philosophy, which is shaped by the dynamic shifts in the educational landscape and the influence of the current digital era. Prof Yang summarises her teaching philosophy as ‘experience management’, a key concept originating from the service industry. It is about using sensorial, affective, symbolic, physical, relational, and cognitive dimensions to foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment that will continue to benefit students even after they graduate.
The talk will start at 3:00pm in the auditorium of the UM Wu Yee Sun Library (E2), and will be conducted in English. Interested individuals can register at https://isw.um.edu.mo/evm/register/award_yang1. For enquiries, please call 8822 4504.
