A delegation led by Du Jiangfeng, president of Zhejiang University, recently visited the University of Macau (UM) and was warmly received by UM Rector Yonghua Song. Both parties signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in education and science and a student exchange agreement. According to Song, Zhejiang University is a strategic partner of UM, and the cooperation between the two universities has deepened in recent years and yielded fruitful results, including the launch of a dual bachelor’s degree programme in biomedical sciences and clinical medicine, and the establishment of the China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Ocean Research Alliance, the Joint Research Centre for Smart Government, and the Joint Research Centre for Financial Innovation. Du expressed hope that the two universities will continue to deepen their cooperation in talent cultivation and academic research, particularly in key areas such as biomedical sciences, new materials, and ocean research. The delegation also visited the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering, and Cheng Yu Tung College, and praised UM for its research development and residential college system.
