The University of Macau (UM) on Friday 12 May will hold a talk titled ‘Technologists’ Role in Addressing Climate Sustainability’. Saifur Rahman, president and CEO of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for 2023 and director of the Advanced Research Institute at Virginia Tech in the United States, will be the guest speaker. During the talk, he will examine the global objective of achieving carbon reduction and explore how to address the conflicting relationship between industrialised countries and emerging economies. He will also discuss the importance of cooperation between both sides to create a systematic solution that includes advanced low-carbon power generation, energy storage, demand-side management, and energy efficiency improvement technologies.

The talk will begin at 3:00pm and will be conducted in English. All are welcome.
