The University of Macau (UM) will hold a talk titled ‘The Characteristics of Contemporary Chinese Legal Theories and the Essential Features of the Construction of Rule of Law’ as part of the University Lecture Series. Mo Jihong, director of the Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and dean of the School of Law, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, will be the keynote speaker. During the talk, he will explore the characteristics of contemporary Chinese legal theories.

The talk will be conducted in Mandarin and will be live broadcast at 3:30pm in the University Hall (N2), where the speaker will interact with the audience. In line with the goal of UM to foster talent training and research development in the discipline of law, the Faculty of law will launch the Bachelor of Law in Chinese Law and Global Legal Studies in 2023. The new programme is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to master the key legal topics in legal education in the People’s Republic of China and to study key elements of the globalised international legal system. The course covers all the subjects required for the national judicial examination, as well as the core subjects needed to understand the dynamics of global governance. Taught in English, the programme aims not only to meet the current pressing needs of the legal practice community in the Greater Bay Area, but also to lead the way in the future development of national, regional, and global legal services and research.
