The University of Macau (UM) will hold a talk as part of the University Lecture Series on Thursday 19 May. Yang Qiang, chief artificial intelligence officer of WeBank and chair professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, will be the keynote speaker. He will give a talk titled ‘Reliable Federated Learning – The Key to Future AI Development’ to explore the advanced techniques and future development of artificial intelligence (AI).

UM has been fostering talent training and research development in various high-tech disciplines. The Department of Computer and Information Science of the Faculty of Science and Technology will launch the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Programme in 2023. The programme aims to cultivate students with interdisciplinary knowledge within the AI discipline, so as to respond to the ever-growing demand across different industries for AI specialists.
