The sixth meeting of the second Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (SKL-QRCM) was recently held at the University of Macau (UM), which involved both in-person and virtual elements. During the meeting, members of the committee recognised the achievements of the lab, most notably its progress in promoting the industrialisation of Chinese medicine.

Participants in the meeting included Chan Wan Hei, chair of the Administrative Committee of the Science and Technology Development Fund of Macao (FDCT);  Cheang Kun Wai and Ip Kuai Lam, members of the FDCT Administrative Committee; Yonghua Song, rector of UM; Lee Hun Wei, president of the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST); Academician Kaixian Chen and Academician Ding Jian, co-chairs of the Academic Committee; as well as three committee members, namely Academician Yang Baofeng of Harbin Medical University, Prof Zhou Demin of Peking University, and Chen Shilin, chief researcher of the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.

In his speech, Chan thanked the committee members for their guidance on the development of the SKL-QRCM and expressed his expectation for the lab to make greater contribution to the industry of Chinese medical sciences in Macao. Song and Lee, on behalf of UM and MUST, respectively, each delivered a welcome speech and expressed the universities’ full support for the development of the lab. Academician Chen and Academician Ding, co-chairs of the Academic Committee, each gave a speech and both recognised the development of the lab. Wang Yitao, director of the SKL-QRCM (UM), and Wang Jingrong, professor of the SKL-QRCM (MUST), then reported on the lab’s progress at UM and MUST, respectively, in 2021.
