To promote innovations of MOOCs in teaching and learning, the University of Macau’s (UM) Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement (CTLE) and xuetang X, held the Seventh Greater China MOOC Symposium online between 25 August and 26 August. Nearly 150 experts and scholars from renowned higher education institutions in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, and the Guandong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area joined the two-day event. Participants exchanged ideas on the opportunities and challenges for online education during COVID-19. The live webcast received nearly 1,800 views. 
UM Rector Yonghua Song delivered an opening speech, in which he said that over the past 15 months, the higher education sector has experienced unprecedented challenges under the impact of the epidemic, and the need to maintain teaching and learning while ensuring a certain level of quality has required adjustments by all stakeholders. He added that UM responds to the learning needs of students at different times with different innovative teaching approaches, and that the university also promotes motivation and creativity among its faculty members through different means. He added that the conference provided an excellent platform for representatives from the higher education sector as well as experts, and scholars who are interested in MOOC development to share their wisdom, ideas, and experience concerning online teaching and learning during the pandemic. 
Launched in 2014, the Greater China MOOC Symposium aims to enhance mutual collaboration, improve MOOC research and application in the Greater China region, and promote innovations of MOOCs in teaching and learning. Participants of this year’s symposium come from renowned institutions in the Greater China region, including Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Jinan University, the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Macau University of Science and Technology, the City University of Macau, the University of Saint Joseph, Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, and UM.
