The University of Macau (UM) today (17 March) kicked off the two-day Career and Internship Fair 2016. This year’s fair attracted more than 100 companies, offering over 5,000 jobs to more than 1,500 graduating students of bachelor’s programmes.

According to UM’s latest Further Studies and Placement Survey, the employment and further studies rate among bachelor’s degree graduates in the 2014/2015 academic year was 93.4 per cent. The top three industries where the graduates found employment are education, banking and finance, and entertainment and gaming, with the median monthly income being MOP 14,375.

Prof Haydn Chen, vice rector (student affairs) of UM, said that two-thirds of last year’s job-hunting graduates found a job before graduation, and 90 per cent of them found a job within three months of graduation.

From 17 March to 18 March, exhibiting companies will conduct onsite job interviews for applicants. UM will also hold recruitment talks during the period.
