A team from the University of Macau (UM) Department of Communication recently received two Top Ten Paper Awards at the 10th China Health Communication Conference held in Tsinghua University, Beijing.

The two award-winning papers are Deep Analysis of Health Literacy: Fantasy Theme Analysis of ‘Yang Sheng Advertorials’ on WeChat, which is co-authored by Prof Wu Mei, Dr Angela Chang, and master’s student Lin Peiyuan; and Socioeconomic Status, Television Exposure and Hypertension: A Perspective of Health Behavior Adoption by PhD student Ma Zhihao.

The China Health Communication Conference is a leading conference in the field of health communication in China. It is under the direction of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and is co-organised by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Chinese Center for Health Education, and the Research Center for Public Health at Tsinghua University.

The team is now working closely with colleagues from Tsinghua University in Beijing and Fu Jen Catholic University in Taipei to promote health communication in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
