Xia Yiwei, a PhD student from the University of Macau (UM) Department of Sociology, and assistant professor Dr Cai Tianji from the same department, recently won a first prize at a national conference on drug abuse prevention and treatment for their co-authored paper titled ‘Estimating the Size of Illicit Drug Users in Macau: Capture-Recapture Model and its Application’. The conference was co-organised by the Chinese Association of Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and the Social Welfare Bureau of the Macao SAR government.
