An inauguration ceremony for the new cohort of UM Reporters and PR Student Ambassadors (PRSAs) was recently held in the University of Macau’s (UM) Student Activity Centre. Vice Rector for Student Affairs Haydn Chen presented badges to the third cohort of UM Reporters and name pins to the fifth cohort of PRSAs. Communications Office Director Katrina Cheong presented certificates to the top 10 PRSAs for the 2013-2014 period. Selected works of UM Reporters and video clips of how PRSAs received guests and guided campus tours were presented at the ceremony. Representatives of UM Reporters and PRSAs also shared their experience.
‘The University of Macau implements a unique ‘4-in-1’ model of education, which consists of discipline-specific education, general education, research and internship education, and community and peer education,’ said Vice Rector Haydn Chan at the inauguration ceremony. ‘The UM Reporter Programme and the PR Student Ambassador Programme are two important vehicles for the 4th component of the model—community and peer education. These two programmes provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and tap into their potential. More importantly, they help our students achieve well-rounded development by giving them the opportunity to develop various skills and qualities that will benefit them for life, such as using one’s initiative to study, the ability to solve problems independently, etc.’
