Prof Haydn Chen, vice rector for students affairs of the University of Macau (UM), recently gave a lecture at the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) on how to prepare students to become the most needed talent in the 21st century by helping them develop soft skills in addition to hard skills. The lecture attracted many academic staff from HKBU, including the university’s President and Vice-Chancellor Prof Albert Chan, Director of Student Affairs Prof Albert Lee, and all staff members of the Office of Student Affairs.

Prof Haydn Chen is a world-renowned materials scientist. He founded a liberal arts college in Tunghai University, Taiwan, during his tenure as president there. Ever since he assumed office as UM’s vice rector for student affairs in 2012, he has been vigorously improving student affairs at UM, with focus on helping students to develop soft skills.
