An international conference on China’s grand strategy and diplomatic transformation, organized by the Department of Government and Public Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Macau (UM), was held in HG01, Ho Yin Convention Centre, UM, on the 3rd and 4th of February, 2012. Leading scholars from the U.S., Australia, Singapore, mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao gathered at UM to discuss various aspects of China’s new directions in foreign policy and their implications for China’s relations with the world.

With China’s rapid emergence as a global power, its diplomacy has been facing brand-new challenges and opportunities. Consequently its grand strategy and foreign policy ideas and practice have also been evolving. This international conference explored China’s emerging new grand strategy and related diplomatic transformation from both theoretical and policy perspectives.
