This year, the University of Macau (UM) will participate in the celebration of the World Voice Day for the first time. In order to draw people’s attention to the importance of voice in the workplace and in society at large, as well as how to take care of it, UM’s Department of Portuguese will organize a series of talks, workshops and practical demonstrations at UM’s Ho Yin Convention Centre from 9:30 to 18:00 on 14 April.

The event will bring together different professionals whose work has to do with voice, such as ear, nose and throat doctors, speech therapists, teachers, singers and journalists. People who participate in the activities will have an opportunity to learn the techniques about how to take good care of their voice and how to use it properly.

The theme of the World Voice Day 2011 celebration at UM is “How well do you know your voice?” and all activities will be conducted in English. The event will be open to the public. All are welcome.
