The Research Services and Knowledge Transfer Office (RSKTO) of the University of Macau (UM) organised the ‘Knowledge Transfer Workshop Series 2023’, with the aim of promoting knowledge transfer, fostering industry-academia collaboration, and improving understanding of knowledge transfer outcomes. The event featured two workshops on knowledge transfer, with renowned experts as speakers. The first workshop, titled ‘What Scientists Need to Know about IP and Tech Transfer’ and presented by Philip Mendes, adjunct professor at Queensland University of Technology in Australia, explored various aspects of knowledge transfer, including how to achieve academic publication while ensuring intellectual property protection and commercialisation. The second workshop, titled ‘Experience Sharing from Boston University Tech Transfer Expert’ and presented by Ashley J. Stevens, former director of Boston University’s Office of Technology Transfer, discussed topics such as the advantages of technology transfer, managing and marketing inventions, technology valuation, and negotiating license agreements. The two workshops were attended by UM professors, students, and administrative staff.
