The University of Macau (UM) Mandarin Debating Team and Cantonese Debating Team recently won championships at the 20th debating competition for students of higher education institutions in Macao. In this competition, the Mandarin Debating Team has won the championship nine times while the Cantonese Debating Team has won the championship 14 times and achieved a seven-year winning streak. Organised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, this year’s competition attracted debate teams from UM, the Macau University of Science and Technology, Macao Polytechnic University, the Academy of Public Security Forces, the City University of Macau, the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, and the University of Saint Joseph.
