A laboratory in organoid research jointly established by Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute (ZUMRI) and Accurate International Biotechnology (Guangzhou) Co Ltd in the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin has been officially unveiled. The establishment of the lab is a collaboration between industry, universities, research institutes, and medical organisations in the area of organoid research. The joint lab will focus on organoid-based precision medicine research and application to promote the development of the health industry ecosystem between Guangdong and Macao. Chuxia Deng, responsible person for the project and dean of the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences, said that the lab would have positive implications for artificial intelligence (AI) identification of organoid images, quality control, and drug sensitivity evaluation. Huang Min, chairman of Accurate International Biotechnology (Guangzhou) Co Ltd, said that the joint lab would give full play to the strengths of ZUMRI and Accurate International in talent cultivation, research innovation, research results transfer, commercialisation, and model innovation in the areas of the application of AI and organoid drug-sensitive technology, biobank construction, and new drug research and development.
