Wu Qinglu, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), has been selected for the Emerging Psychologists’ Programme at the International Congress of Psychology 2020 (ICP2020).
Launched in 1889 and organised by the International Union of Psychological Science, the ICP is currently one of the world’s largest international conferences on psychology. The Emerging Psychologists’ Programme was designed for aspiring scientists in the field of psychology. It aims to facilitate international communication and networking among scholars during the conference, as well as to encourage psychologists who are at the beginning of their careers to enhance their knowledge and networking skills. Through a rigorous selection process by committee judges, 40 out of 130 candidates were selected to join the programme.
Recruited by UM through the UM Macao Talent Programme, Wu is mentored by Dr Chi Peilian, assistant professor in the Department of Psychology. His research study focuses on the roles of resilience and positive psychological processes, such as the process of showing forgiveness, gratitude, and self-compassion, in maintaining an individual’s well-being, mental health, and developmental outcomes.
