Prof Yang Zhixin, assistant dean of the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology, and vice president and general secretary of the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau, received the State Scientific Innovation and Pioneer Award, at an award ceremony held earlier in Beijing. The ceremony was attended by numerous state leaders, including Liu Yunshan, Liu Yandong, Li Yuanchao, and Wan Gang. Prof Yang’s receiving the award shows the central government’s recognition of Macao’s achievements in scientific and technological innovations. The selection of candidates from Macao has received great support from the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR.
