A team of pre-college students from Macao, led by Assistant Professor Leong Ieng Tak and Senior Instructor Wan Lung Yam from the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau (UM), recently won a gold medal and five merit awards at the 58th International Mathematical Olympiad held in Brazil. This is the second time that a team from Macao has won a gold medal at this competition. This year’s event attracted more than 600 students from 111 countries and regions. The six students in the Macao team come from Pui Ching Middle School, Hou Kong Middle School (Macao), and Kao Yip Middle School.
