The University of Macau’s (UM) English Debating Team recently won the first prize and a Best Debater Award in the preliminaries of the ‘FLTRP JD.COM Cup’ National English Debating Competition 2015 held in Beijing.
Organised by the Foreign Language Teaching Research Press (FLTRP), the ‘FLTRP Cup’ National English Debating Competition is the largest and most influential English debating competition in China. This year’s competition attracted participants from more than 316 universities.
UM students Leong Sin Ieng from the Faculty of Social Science and Kwok In from the Faculty of Law won the first prize in the preliminaries. Kwok In also received a Best Debater Award.
The UM team will participate in the United Asian Debating Championship 2015 to be held in Bali, Indonesia, in June.
