Prof. Joseph Sung, vice-chancellor and president of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), gave the 39th lecture of the University of Macau (UM) Distinguished Lecture Series on 5 March.

Prof. Sung shared his view on university education. He noted that universities should not be too obsessed with rankings and research output while losing sight of their fundamental mission, which is to educate. He added that apart from professional knowledge, universities should also teach students to be kind, caring, compassionate and broad-minded.
