Gertina J. van Schalkwyk, head of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Macau (UM), and Rik Carl D’Amato, director of the UM’s Center for Teaching and Learning Enhancement and professor of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UM, co-edited a special issue of the SSCI journal School Psychology International, Volume 34, Issue 2, published in April 2013.  They co-authored the lead article (and title of the special issue): Providing psychological services and counseling in Pacific Rim countries: Where is school psychology in Asia? 

Prof. D’Amato and Prof. Schalkwyk, along with several PhD students, also published many studies in the journal. Prof. D’Amato published an article entitled “Understanding the development of school psychology in Mainland China”, which is co-authored with PhD student Hu Juan, as well as an article entitled “Understanding the development of school psychology services in the Republic of China (Taiwan), which is co-authored with PhD student Wang Yuanyuan  Prof. Schalkwyk published an article entitled Evaluating school-based psychological counseling services in Macao using a qualitative approach”, which is co-authored with PhD student Holly Sit.  

The journal has an impact factor of 2.162 and is ranked  No. 10 among the 51 journals in educational psychology.
