Annabelle Lin, who became the first World Supermodel Macau, is just a Year 4 student in University of Macau (UM). She won the Best Swimwear in the 10th annual World Supermodel Production in May 24-27 this year.

 

Annabelle loved to watch fashion shows on TV when she was a little girl, hoping someday she could be one of the models standing on the T stage and show her dazzling light to people. But fashion model resources in Macao are scarce, model courses are not offered frequently and demands for models are quite low. Annabelle started by being a photo model, and her first teacher was actually a photographer. Later on, she became more and more professional and attracted more attention. But the model demands in Macao are limited, usually the market needs a promotion girl, so most of her contracts were from other places, like Hong Kong. She said if she only accepted local jobs, it is impossible to afford her daily life.

 

Her beauty and experience gave her confidence to apply for this year's The World Supermodel Production, which was hosted in Macao. Her crowning of World Supermodel in the ceremony has made people remember her name. During the 4-day competition, Annabelle went through a lot of things she had never experienced before. She needed to face the camera from the time she woke up at 4:00am until she got back to her room at 1:00am. She had to have brainstorming sessions on how to answer questions from journalists and get along with so many professional models. Annabelle said most models are unique, have special personalities and are kind, so she learned lots of skills from them. There were 40 models totally from different places, Annabelle successfully entered the first 14 and won The Best Swimwear award.

 

For her, this was a turning point in her life. She said she had never taken such challenges before, on her body as well as her mind. Although these challenges brought her so much stress, she is thankful as she has found a lot of things to improve.

 

After this victory, Annabelle has become more confident and has developed greater ambition. Her next stop is The Global Model in Portugal. For her wish, she wants the world to see Macao, and know there is a super model called Annabelle from Macao.

 

She provided advice to people who want to be a model while still in school; you need to strike a balance according to your ability. And the most important point for a successful model is to find your own style and don't be afraid of hard work and fighting, she emphasized.
