By Cathy Ho
Starting from the Christmas festival holiday, the Macau Tower has associated with the Japanese company ˇ§Sanrioˇ¨ by using its Hello Kitty figure to present Macau and the tower itself inside the Macau Tower. The topic of the activity is called ˇ§I love Macauˇ¨. The edutainment is for the whole family and Hello Kitty is ready to be your guide through a historic journey of the city.
By entering the realm of Macau history with Hello Kitty, there is much mini-architecture from the colonial period and it is a treasure of the East-West cultural pluralism of Macau. They are all on the list of World Heritage Sites designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in July 2005. On account of this great event, the Macau Tower holds the mini exhibition through a funny and fascinating character named ˇ§Hello Kittyˇ¨.
Candy Lei, a resident of Macau, visited the ˇ§Mini-historic Centre of Macauˇ¨. ˇ§I think the idea is very interesting and fresh because I can visit the whole Macau through these mini historical sites. They can also attract Hello Kitty fans like me.ˇ¨
Sanrio is a Japanese company that creates a range of cartoon characters. Hello Kitty is one of the most popular characters of Sanrio. Moreover, the Macau Government and Sanrio might cooperate to build a Hello Kitty theme park, the ˇ§Hello Kitty Landˇ¨, in the future. At the moment, people can have their first meeting with Hello Kitty in the Macau Tower.
Chan Kin Hong, a tourist from Hong Kong, has joined the ˇ§journeyˇ¨. ˇ§It is a very good promotion. Using the cutie character to introduce Macau can attract many tourists. I hope there will be a Hello Kitty Land in Macau very soon,ˇ¨ she said.
Sixteen representative sites in the ˇ§Mini-historic Centre of Macauˇ¨ have been adorned with the Hello Kitty signatures and the unique Sanrio hallmarks. For instance, there are the Ruins of St. Paulˇ¦s, A-Ma Temple, Senado Square and Section of the Old City Walls and so on. There is also a guided passport for the visitors to get some information about the activity. People can also find answers in the historic centre to a quiz to win some souvenirs.
Kids and parents
can get busy in a workshop above all. They can bake Hello Kitty goodies
and learn how to wrap boxes. They can also meet the new member
of the Hello Kitty family, ˇ§I love Macau Hello Kittyˇ¨. So, what are you
waiting for? Letˇ¦s join this ˇ§memorial journeyˇ¨ together.
