New Restaurant Offers a `Feel-at-Home'

There is a new restaurant that helps you arrange a party and gives you a feeling of being at home.

Many types of places in Macau offer drinks, food and entertainment at the same time, such as karaoke bars and coffee shops. Young people especially like to find a unique and interesting place for gathering. The newly opened restaurant "Home For You" is offering something special, a feel-at-home environment.

"We are the only restaurant in Macau which offers this kind of service," Joe Chan, 28 years old, owner of the restaurant said. He said that his restaurant is different from karaoke bars and coffee shops; the furniture and environment are decorated like a private home. It has a TV game, a Chinese chess or a DVD player so that customers can watch TV or play games in his restaurant.

"Here you can experience home-cooked Chinese food made by myself, which emphasizes on healthy diet and does not contain monosodium glutamate. We are famous for our garlic prawns, apple tarts and creamy cakes," Chan said.

Chan said that Hong Kong has many restaurants offering "home feel" parties for people and some of them are very successful in attracting customers. So his idea of the "home feel" party came from that model. He also said that he went to many "home feel" parties to try the dishes and collected the information in Hong Kong before opening up this restaurant.

The restaurant is located near the Shun Tak House. "I am running my business in my own apartment building. The price per person is about MOP80 to 100," Chan said, adding that he will try his best to meet customers' need in their party. For example, he will help them plan their own menu in their party. "People need to make a reservation since we only offer one party per night in our restaurant, which has a space to host only about 10-13 people," Chan said.

"I was curious about this restaurant," May Wong, a customer in the restaurant said. The other reason she said is that she enjoyed the environment. She said that she enjoyed the casual, relaxed atmosphere and delightful desserts from the menu. She could share her time with her friends and would not be disturbed by others as she was holding a private party in the restaurant.
