Did you know that the pictures and videos about the new campus construction progress you see on a regular basis were taken and made by our photographer colleague? Rain or shine, every two or three days our colleague went to the training ground of the Academy of Public Security Forces, the A-Ma Cultural Village, the Waste Water Treatment Plant and the new campus construction site on Hengqin Island to take pictures, in order not to miss any shots worth sharing. Look, here he goes again.
9:30am Getting Ready
Photographer Kidonis goes through his accoutrements one last time: camera, safety cap, spiked shoes, safety vest and bottled water. Yep, all set. Time to go!
Car Arrives at Construction Site
10:00am Swimming Stadium
Everywhere construction workers are busy with their task at hand. Steel structure works and installation of steel support frames of curtain walls for the stadium have been completed.
Walk through a long, narrow corridor and we are greeted by a 50-metre swimming pool. Water pumping and pipeline laying have been basically completed.
11:30am Student Activity Centre
The car drives from south to north, passing the residential college area, the staff residential area, the faculty area, the temporary workers residential area, and stops at the Student Activity Centre, where external wall plastering and installation of aluminium plates and cable tray system on the second level are in progress.
11:50am Library
The library will be a landmark building on the new campus. Stand on the square in front of the library and look around, and one can’t help but imagine what it would be like with the comings and goings of staff, students and visitors.
Leaving Construction Site for Macao
3:00pm Rooftop of the Waste Water Treatment Plant
Now we arrive at the Waste Water Treatment Plan that looks across the new campus construction site.
4:15pm A-Ma Cultural Village
After a bumpy ride on snaking mountain roads, we arrive at the A-Ma Cultural Village. From the corridor on the first floor of the A-Ma Temple, we could get a bird’s eye view of the new campus buildings.
5:00pm Training Ground of the Academy of Public Security Forces
There are no fences around here, so it really takes guts to go up there. We have witnessed how an expanse of plantain plants gradually turning into a new campus, and we are eager to witness its completion.
5:30pm Return
Dusk is descending. Let’s conclude today’s work with a picture of the new campus bathed in sunset.
