The University of Macau (UM) and the Macao Foundation launched in this November the Writers-and-Artists-in-Residence Programme. The renowned writer Wang Meng is the first writer-in-residence at UM. During the next month he will, among other activities, share his insights on writing with UM staff and students. UM plans to dedicate a special venue on the new campus to cultural and artistic purposes. The venue will integrate salons, exhibition rooms, studios, conference rooms, and café. By inviting well-known writers and artists from around the world to visit and stay, UM hopes to expand students’ perspectives and foster a creative atmosphere on campus.
