What would you do to help people with visual impairments to better appreciate UM’s campus? In an effort to learn more about the needs of visitors from different backgrounds, the University of Macau (UM) PR Student Ambassadors (PRSA) recently attended a training course to learn how to accommodate those with visual impairments in campus tours. Led by Cheong Chi Pong, president of Macau People with Visually Impaired Right Promotion Association, the PRSA walked around the campus blindfolded to experience what it is like for people with visual impairments to visit a new place.‘I did not know that people with visual impairments can do a lot of things without the help of others,’says PR Student Ambassador Serafina Xu. The instructor also taught us how to properly guide a blind person, and how important communication is in the process.’
