Xia Baolong, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, visited the University of Macau (UM) on 17 May. He visited the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, the research project exhibition area and the Rare Book Collection Room at the UM Library to learn about UM and its latest developments in research and innovation. He praised the university for its achievements.

Yonghua Song, rector of UM, said that he not only gave Director Xia an overview of UM’s recent developments in various fields, but also reported on the university’s efforts to nurture talent in emerging disciplines and contribute to Macao’s economic diversification. He added that Director Xia gave full recognition to UM, and UM will continue to contribute to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, integrate with the nation and go global, with the aim of becoming a university that Macao people take pride in and that receives international recognition.
