The Sixth International Symposium on Chinese Language and Discourse (ISCLD) was held at the University of Macau (UM) for two consecutive days. The ISCLD is a biennial symposium and in this edition, more than 100 experts and scholars from all over the world participated online and offline and shared the results of their latest research around the theme ‘Discourses and Multilingualism: Focus on Greater China and Chinese Diasporas’, contributing to the development of the Chinese language.
The symposium was co-organised by the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of UM and the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with the assistance of the Linguistic Society of Macao, China Pragmatics Association, and the Chinese Language and Discourse: An International and Interdisciplinary Journal. The two-day event included 9 keynote speeches and 16 parallel session presentations. 110 experts and scholars from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Japan, South Korea, Portugal, Australia, Indonesia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan presented their latest research results at the symposium.
