The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Law recently held a seminar on the codification of a new penal code for China. Liu Renwen, director of the criminal law research department of the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and director of the School of Law of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was the keynote speaker. During the event, he discussed specific ideas for and challenges in the codification of a new penal code.
