The University of Macau (UM) today (19 May) held a talk as part of the University Lecture Series. Yang Qiang, chief artificial intelligence officer of WeBank and chair professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, was the keynote speaker. He gave a talk titled ‘Reliable Federated Learning – The Key to Future AI Development’ to explore the advanced technology and future development of artificial intelligence (AI). According to Yang, federated learning is an important intersection between AI and privacy computation. Enhancing the safety, reliability and efficiency of federated learning concerns both the industry and the academia. During the talk, he systematically reviewed the developments of and challenges facing federated learning, and discussed its future development from different perspectives.
