Wireless charging technology is becoming increasingly popular and can even be used in implantable medical devices. A research team at the University of Macau (UM), led by Associate Professor Lu Yan in the Institute of Microelectronics, is committed to optimising wireless power supply technology through the development of high-performance chips. UM’s wireless power transfer chips can be used in the new-generation cardiac pacemakers. The chip can be charged wirelessly from outside the body, so there is no need for patients to receive another surgery.
