A group of faculty members and students of the University of Macau (UM) recently received a first prize and a second prize in the outstanding paper category, as well as a Best Exhibition Board Award, at the Seventh Educational Forum on Modern Residential College System. In addition, UM has been elected the new chair of an alliance for collegiate universities in China.

This year’s forum was organised by the alliance and hosted by the Harbin Institute of Technology, Weihai. Over 300 experts and scholars from nearly 40 universities participated in the event. During the event, Zhang Meifang, master of UM’s Cheong Kun Lun College (CKLC), delivered a keynote speech on the latest developments of UM’s residential college system. After the speech, Shiu Pong College (SPC) Associate Master Liu Jingjing, CKLC Resident Fellow Chu Caixia, Moon Chun Memorial College (MCMC) Resident Fellow Peggy Lau, Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) Resident Fellow Lu Ching Hui, and Choi Kai Yau College (CKYC) student Xu Zhenfeng gave presentations on their papers. During the event, CKYC Master Janny Leung, Student Resources Section Head Samson Cheong, and MCMC Resident Fellow Alice Hong, as well as four CYTC students exchanged ideas with faculty members and students from the residential colleges of other universities.

This year’s forum received 151 papers from 29 universities. After a review process, 56 papers have been selected for the conference proceeding, with 25 being ranked as outstanding papers. Nine UM papers have been selected for the conference proceeding. Among them, a paper written by the SPC team received a first prize while another paper written by the CYTC team received a second prize. An exhibition board made by Dr Chu Caixia received the Best Exhibition Board Award.
