The University of Macau (UM) Global Affairs Office (GAO) recently held the annual event ‘International Night’ to help UM students learn more about UM’s international exchange programmes.

UM has established partnerships with 147 higher education institutions in 28 countries and regions, including mainland China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Portugal, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, and Brazil. Rui Martins, UM’s vice rector of global affairs, gave the opening remarks. He encouraged the students to actively participate in UM’s exchange programmes to broaden their horizons. He also provided useful information about UM’s International Student Scholarship Schemes and the Incoming Exchange Scholarship.

There were various country-themed booths to provide detailed information about their exchange programmes. Students who have participated in exchange programmes in the past as well as UM alumni and advisors for exchange programmes also shared their experience with the participants. Some participants also went onstage to showcase their traditional costumes and talked about the cultures of their home countries.

GAO is committed to enhancing UM’s degree of internationalisation by expanding its international network. GAO offers a wide range of exchange programmes, including semester-long exchange programmes and outbound student activities. In the 2018/2019 academic year, nearly 600 students participated in different international exchange programmes, including overseas exchange programmes, study abroad programmes, the 10,000 Talent Programme, and the Erasmus Programme.
