Recently Hao Yuan, vice governor of Gansu province, China, visited the University of Macau (UM). He was warmly welcomed by UM Rector Wei Zhao, Faculty of Business Administration Dean Prof. Jacky So, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Dean Prof. Hao Yufan, Prof. Lok Wai Kin from the Faculty of Law and UM Registrar Paul Pang. Rector Wei Zhao said that despite the long distance between each other, Gansu and UM has maintained a very close tie, as reflected in UM staff and students’ earlier participation in the “Oasis Action 2011” activity. Hao Yuan said that UM was founded only thirty years ago, but has already attained some impressive achievements thanks to the support of the Macao SAR government. He said that the new campus will certainly go a long way towards helping UM to achieve the goal of becoming a world-class university. He also expressed his hope that UM can strengthen collaboration with higher education institutions in Gansu province to help improve the quality of higher education in Gansu.
