Prof Lee Chack Fan, recipient of an honorary doctorate from the University of Macau (UM) and director of the University of Hong Kong’s School of Professional and Continuing Education, gave a UM Doctor honoris causa Lecture, entitled ‘From Dunhuang to Macau – Sino-European Interactions over the Past Four Millennia’, at UM Wu Yee Sun Library. During the lecture, Prof Lee discussed, from the perspective of the history of transport between China and European countries, how Dunhuang, Hong Kong, and Macao became China’s most important trading and logistics hubs and served as a bridge that connects Chinese and Western cultures at different times in history.
