A team led by student Mak Hou Chun from the Department of Electromechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau (UM), recently won the championship at Macau InnoICT Business Plan Competition 2017 for their design of an automatic resource recycling system. Another team from UM named ‘BARRA Studio’ placed third in the competition.
This year’s event attracted 30 teams, with 19 of them from higher education institutions in Macao, including UM, Macao Polytechnic Institute, the Macau University of Science and Technology, the City University of Macau, and the University of Saint Joseph. The other 11 teams came from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States.
The competition was co-organised by Macau New Technologies Incubator Centre and the Tertiary Education Services Office. Held for the first time in 2010, the event aims to encourage university students to create innovative projects, to help the students start their own businesses, and to promote the development of information and communications technology in Macao.
